The difference between grid connected cabinets and AC combiner boxes
1、 Definition and Function
Grid connected cabinets and AC combiner boxes are both core components in solar power generation systems, both of which have the functions of collecting and distributing electricity, but their specific definitions and functions are slightly different.
1. Grid connected cabinet
Grid connected cabinet, also known as inverter cabinet, is a key equipment for converting direct current generated by solar panels into alternating current. It mainly includes inverters, distribution protection, communication control, and other parts, and is a bridge connecting solar panels and the public power grid.
2. AC combiner box
AC combiner box, also known as AC combiner box, is a device for collecting, converging, and distributing electricity in solar power plants. It is mainly used for the convergence and protection of solar power plants, connecting multiple inverters in the power plant to a common interface, facilitating centralized monitoring and maintenance of the power plant.
2、 Application Scenario
The usage scenarios of grid connected cabinets and AC combiner boxes are different.
1. Grid connected cabinet
Grid connected cabinets are mainly used in decentralized solar power generation systems such as roofs and floors. The inverter is generally located closer to the battery panel, and the cable line distance between the inverter and the grid connected cabinet should not be too long, usually within 20 meters.
2. AC combiner box
The AC combiner box is mainly used in centralized solar power plants, usually located in the central position of the solar power plant, to connect multiple inverters in the plant to a common interface. For ease of maintenance, the AC combiner box is generally installed in a location with sufficient sunlight and good ventilation, and should not be too far from the inverter and the main interface of the power station.
